Cookies Policy
What Cookies are
What are cookies used for?
Cookies can be divided into two macro-categories: technical cookies and profiling cookies.
Technical cookies are those used for the sole purpose of “carrying out the transmission of certain information on an electronic communications network or as strictly necessary for the provider of an information service to provide services requested explicitly by the subscriber or user” (cfr. art. 122, par.1, of the Personal Data Protection Code). They are not used for further purposes and are usually installed directly by the website administrator. They can be divided into browsing or session cookie which enable normal navigation and use of the website (e.g. allowing the user to make a purchase or log in to reserved areas); analytics cookies, which are similar to technical cookies and are used directly by the website operator to collect information, in aggregate form, about the number of users and how they visit the site; functionality cookies, which allow the user to navigate according to a number of selected criteria (e.g. language, products selected for purchase) to improve the quality of service provided to the user. Browsing a website would not be possible without the use of technical cookies, which in certain cases are therefore technically necessary for the website to function.
Profiling cookies
Profiling cookies are intended to create profiles of the user and are used to send advertising messages in accordance with the preferences indicated by the user while browsing the web. Profiling cookies are distinguished according to the different entity that installs them on the user’s terminal: the administrator of the site that the user is visiting (Publisher) or of a different site (third party) that installs cookies through the former. Profiling cookies installed by third parties are referred to as third party cookies.

Managing cookies
Most browsers allow users to partly or fully allow, block or delete the installation of cookies via their preferences settings. However, restricting websites to set technical cookies may affect usability and prevent proper functioning of a site, while profiling cookies are generally not indispensable for browsing. Detailed information on the procedure to follow can be found in the help file of the browser used.
It is also possible to:
- enable Do Not Track, available in many last generation browsers.
Websites supporting this feature, if enabled, should automatically suspend any data collection. - enable Incognito Mode to browse without leaving a trace of your browsing data in the browser. However, anonymous browsing does not guarantee anonymity on the internet because accepting cookies and then automatically deleting them at the end of the session only removes the browsing history from the browser, while it remains available to website operators and connectivity providers.
A useful tool to check which cookies are installed on your computer (and block them by withdrawing consent) can be found at www.youronlinechoices.com/uk/your-ad-choices.
